Active Ingredients

Each tablet contains:

Naproxen Sodium 275 mg

Indications

Therapeutic group:

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAlDs), pain reliever.

Therapeutic activity:

Mild to moderate analgesic. Fever reduction. Narocin is used for the treatment of rheumatic inflammations, tendinitis and musculoskeletal inflammations. For the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea.

Narocin is indicated for the treatment of headache, tooth pain, muscle aches, back aches, rheumatic pain, menstrual pain and for fever reduction.

Instructions

Do not chew, or crush! The tablets may be divided.

Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Take the medicine with or after a meal.

Dosage, unless otherwise directed by the physician:

Adults and children over the age of 12 years - 1 tablet every 12 hours as needed or a starting dose of 2 tablets in a 24-hour period.

Do not exceed a dosage of 2 tablets in a 24-hour period.

Over the age of 65 years: up to 1.5 tablets in a 24-hour period.

Do not exceed the recommended dose.

The smallest effective dosage should be used.

Warnings

Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, attempting to become pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use this medicine if you are sensitive to any of its ingredients,Naproxen, Naproxen sodium or if you experienced in the past an allergic reaction to any analgesic drug.

This medicine is not usually intended for administration to children under the age of 12 years.

Do not use this medicine if you have just undergone, or about to undergo heart surgery , if you suffer from severe heart failure.

Do not take Narocin simultaneously with other medicines belonging to the NSAIDs group.

Do not use this medicine if you suffer from stomach ulcer, Crohn'n disease, Ulcerative colitis, bleeding from the stomach, the intestines or the rectum, black or bloody diarrhea, bloody vomit or vomit resembling coffee grounds.

Do not use this medicine frequently without consulting a doctor.

During prolonged treatment with this medicine, blood, liver and kidney function tests should be performed.

Before starting treatment inform the doctor if you are being treated for any bacterial infection or if you are having surgery ( including dental surgery).

Before undergoing laboratory tests (such as liver or thyroid function test) inform the doctor, since treatment with this medicine may interfere with the results.

Your doctor should be informed immediately of any hearing and/or visual change or disturbance. Narocin contains sodium! Patients on a low sodium diet should consult the doctor before taking this drug.

Taking this medicine may cause stomach bleeding especially if :

  • You are above 60 years of age
  • You are taking other medicines from the NSAIDs group
  • You are consuming more than 3 alcoholic beverages a day.

Taking this medicine in a higher than the recommended dosage or for a prolonged period may increase the risk of stroke or heart attack and stomach bleeding.

Discontinue treatment and refer to the doctor, if fever persists for more than 3 days or if the pain persists for more than 10 days.

Do not use this medicine without consulting a physician before starting treatment:

If you are suffering , or have suffered in the past, from gastric disorders such as: heartburn, abdominal pain or peptic ulcer, blood vessels and coagulation disorders, hypertension, kidney/ urinary tract diseases, from impaired function of the respiratory system (e.g. runny nose , asthma or nasal polyps), the liver, if you are using diuretics, if you are above 60 years of age, if taking medicine from this group or any other analgesic drugs caused in the past serious side effects, if you are suffering from swelling of the ankles or feet, if you have heart problems, have suffered from a previous stroke or think that you might be at risk of stroke (if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol or are a smoker).

If you are taking another drug concomitantly or if you have just finished treatment with another medicine, inform the attending doctor, in order to prevent hazards or lack of efficacy arising from drug interactions. This is especially important for medicines belonging to the following groups: aspirin and salicylates or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, anticoagulants, antihypertensives and medicines for the heart like beta blockers (propranolol), diuretics, cardiac glycosides such as digoxin, hydantoin (like phenytoin for convulsions), methotrexate (for cancer and psoriasis), probenecid (for gout) or antidiabetic drugs (such as from the sulfonylurea group), cyclosporin (for transplants) or valproic acid (for convulsions).

Use of this medicine may impair alertness and therefore caution should be exercised when engaging in activities such as driving a car, operating dangerous machinery and in any other activity which requires alertness. Adolescents over the age of 12 years should be cautioned against engaging in activities such as bicycle riding or playing near roads and the like.

This medicine may cause a special sensitivity when exposed to the sun. Therefore, avoid exposure to the sun or excessive suntan and take appropriate precautions (long clothing, a hat, protective creams, etc.).
