Indications

Kelo-cote UV is a unique scar therapy providing a patented silicone gel to help prevent abnormal scar formation with high protection sunscreen agents. Kelo-cote UV with SPF 30 was specifically developed to protect new and old scars from the aggravating effects of the sun by preventing sun-induced redness and hyper-pigmentation while improving overall appearance. It can be used on all scars resulting from surgery, trauma, wounds and burns. Kelo-cote’s patented silicone technology has been shown in clinical studies to flatten, soften and smooth scars, as well as relieve associated redness, itch and pain.

Kelo-cote may also help in the prevention of excessive and abnormal scar formations. This unique technology allows the gel to self-dry and form a flexible, breathable, waterproof layer that binds to the stratum corneum (the outer layer of skin), providing hydration and protection to the scar site.

Whether a scar is a result of a sutured incision or the natural healing of a wound, it should be protected from the sun during its whole maturation process, (the time that it remains red or pink), which can take from 6 months to 3 years according to studied cases. If a fresh or recent scar is left unprotected from the sun, it may result in unwanted long-term pigmentation of the scar. This increased pigmentation can be unaesthetic compared to the surrounding normal skin. Therefore, it is recommended that a protective sunscreen be applied to scars, and be reapplied every 2 or 3 hours when the body is exposed to the sun.

Kelo-cote UV’s high protection sunscreens and patented, proven silicone technology ensures the

optimal healing environment for all scars. This unique blend of protective and treatment ingredients in one tube offers the convenience of a single application and promotes an aesthetic scar outcome.

Kelo-cote UV is ideal for the face, neck, hands, chest or any other area exposed to the sun. Kelo-cote UV can be used on joints, flexures, hairy areas and large area scars such as those caused by burns or major trauma. Kelo-cote UV may also be used in conjunction with pressure garments or other scar treatments.

Instructions

Do not swallow! For external use only.

Directions:

Ensure that the affected area is clean and dry. Apply evenly in a thin layer twice daily, 30 minutes before sun exposure. Once dry, cosmetics may be applied.

Tips for drying

If Kelo-cote UV has not dried within 4-5 minutes, you have probably used too much. Gently remove the excess and allow the drying process to continue. Kelo-cote UV’s drying process is assisted by the temperature difference between the gel and the skin.

To reduce drying time in hotter climates, keep Kelo-cote UV in the refrigerator.

In colder weather, use a low setting on a hairdryer to reduce drying time.

For maximum effect, Kelo-cote UV should have 24 hour contact with the skin. Recommended minimum treatment time is 60–90 days. Larger and older scars may take longer and continued use is recommended if improvement is still seen after the initial 90 days.
