Active Ingredients

Each gum of 2 mg dosage contains: Nicotine 2 mg.

Indications

Therapeutic group:

A potent parasympathomimetic alkaloid.

Nicotinell chewing gum 2 mg is used as aid for smoking cessation and for the relief of nicotine withdrawal symptoms. In smokers unable to quit smoking, at once, the gum may also be taken as part of a program for gradual cessation of smoking prior to quitting completely.

Instructions

Do not swallow.

The use of Nicotinell is not like chewing a regular gum. Chew one piece of Nicotinell, when the urge to smoke increases, for the duration of 30 minutes. It is important for the nicotine to be released slowly. Do not chew quickly or strenuously and take occasional breaks.

Usual recommended dosage is:

Take one piece of Nicotinell chewing gum when you feel the urge to smoke. Usually 8-12 gums a day up to maximum 25 gums of 2 mg a day.

Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Heavy smokers (above 20 cigarettes a day) - it is recommended to start with Nicotinell 4 mg.

This medicine is not intended for youngsters under 18 years of age.

How can you contribute to the success of the treatment?

Carefully follow these instructions for a day or two and get used to chewing at the right pace. This maneuver will provide the correct amount of nicotine and prevent effects caused by chewing too quickly.

1. Insert a piece of Nicolinell into your mouth and chew slowly until you feel the taste of the nicotine (chew about 10 times).

2. Put the Nicotinell between your gums and your cheek for a minute or two, until the taste has almost disappeared.

3. Continue chewing with these occasional breaks for 30 minutes.

It is recommended to maintain the initial dose for the first 3 months and then gradually decrease the number of pieces a day until stopping completely within 6 months. Use for a period exceeding 6 months is not recommended as the efficacy decreases. Do not stop treatment until you reached the dosage of one or two pieces a day. Carry Nicotinell with you at all times in case you once again feel the urge to smoke.

Remember! One cigarette is enough to resume smoking.

In diabetic patients, during treatment with the medicine, sugar blood levels should be monitored more often.

If you have accidentally taken a higher dosage - if you have chewed a number of units at the same time or if you have been smoking while chewing gum, the following symptoms may appear: nausea, increased salivation, stomach pain, diarrhea, sweating, headache, dizziness, impaired hearing. In this case, discontinue treatment immediately and refer to your doctor.
